Below is an excerpt:

An Arizona federal judge dismissed claims Tuesday against groundwater well owners in a suit brought by the Havasupai Tribe over the owners' allegedly illegal depletion of an aquifer that provides water to the tribe, saying the case can only go forward if the federal government intervenes in the suit.

The Havasupai Tribe filed suit on Dec. 5 against 12 well owners, claiming that the waters of the Havasu Creek, which the tribe depends on for drinking water and for cultural purposes, are threatened by their groundwater wells, which allegedly draw from the aquifer that is the source of the creek, as well as seeps and springs on the tribe's reservation.
