Kirti Reddy, an experienced assistant U.S. attorney from the Southern District of New York, has joined Milwaukee-headquartered Quarles & Brady in its Washington, D.C., office.

Reddy joins the firm as a partner in its health and life sciences practice, expanding the firm’s national team of health lawyers and litigators.

In SDNY’s Civil Division, Reddy developed a stellar reputation leading federal fraud investigations—particularly False Claims Act, Anti-Kickback Statute and Stark Law cases, which prohibit physician self-referrals—particularly for Medicare and Medicaid patients.

Reddy comes to private practice after a 25-year career in public service. She started her legal career as a trial attorney at the forerunner to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services—the Immigration and Naturalization Service. After five years at INS, she moved to SDNY as a staff attorney.

Reddy said her practice will focus on fraud matters and government investigations.

“While in government, I really enjoyed conducting fraud investigation, under the False Claims Act, and I see myself continuing to grow in that area,” said Reddy, who also sees herself being engaged on litigation matters, especially in the health care sector.

Reddy said she chose Quarles & Brady to launch her private practice career because of the “highly skilled lawyers” she saw at the firm, as well as its seeming ability to provide a “congenial environment” in which to practice law.

“The firm has well-known and reputable clients, and provides a high quality of representation while still providing a comfortable work environment for its attorneys,” said Reddy, whose last day at SDNY was Oct. 1 and first day at Quarles & Brady was Oct. 4.

While Reddy will be based in the firm’s D.C. office, she will also initially be working from home from the New York area, and going into the office on an “as needed” basis, she said.

In a statement announcing Reddy’s move, national chair of the firm’s health and life sciences practice, Amy Cotton Peterson, said Reddy stands out for her “detail-oriented approach to conducting compliance investigations” and her ability to “successfully litigate all types of matters.”
