Steven Hunter and Khalaf Khalaf Named to Lawyers of Color Inaugural Hot List

News Release

MILWAUKEE, WIS. - The national law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP announced that Steven Hunter and Khalaf Khalaf have both been named to Lawyers of Color Inaugural Hot List from the Midwest Region.

The Lawyers of Color Inaugural Hot List recognizes early- to mid-career attorneys under 40 who are excelling in the legal profession. Honorees will be profiled in the Hot List Special Issue (July 2013). A reception and photo shoot in honor of the 100 Midwest Region honorees will be held on July 25th at Quarles & Brady's Chicago office.

The honorees were chosen through a two-pronged process. The selection committee spent months reviewing nominations and researching bar publications and legal blogs in order to identify promising candidates. Nominations were accepted from mentors, peers, and colleagues. Editorial picks were also made based on research of attorneys who had noteworthy accomplishments or were active in legal pipeline initiatives.

He has been named a 'Rising Star' in the area of business litigation by Illinois Super Lawyers, an "Exceptional Young Lawyer" by the Chicago Bar Association, one of the "Nation's Best Advocates" by the National Bar Association, a "40 Illinois Attorneys Under 40 To Watch," by Chicago Lawyer magazine and The Chicago Daily Law Bulletin, was named the 2012 Illinois State Bar Association's "Young Lawyer of the Year" and is a Fellow of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity. He earned his undergraduate degrees in Economics and Political Science from Brown University and his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.
