Steven Hunter Receives James P. Lykes African American Male Image Award

On March 1, 2015, Chicago partner Steven Hunter was a recipient of the James P. Lykes African American Males Image Award.

The award, whose name honors the memory of the youngest African American Catholic Bishop in the United States, recognizes African American men in the Chicago area who have demonstrated a commitment to mentor and educate young men of color. In conjunction with the award, monetary scholarships are given to a select group of seniors from Chicago public and Catholic high schools to help defray their college expenses. Additionally, a significant financial contribution is made to Hales Franciscan High School, an independent Catholic school dedicated to providing quality, value-centered education to African American males.

The James P. Lykes African American Male Image Award is conferred upon individuals whose leadership, community involvement, and demonstrated commitment to inspiring excellence in young men is deemed extraordinary. The award was presented by the Knights of Peter Claver and Ladies Auxiliary Society.
