MILWAUKEE, Wis. — The national law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP today announced that partners Jean C. Baker, Bennett J. Berson, and Anthony A. Tomaselli have been listed in the 2016 guide of IAM Patent 1000 2016 – The World’s Leading Patent Professionals. The guide was developed through research and interviews conducted by Intellectual Asset Management (IAM) over a period of five months. The guide contains only the best in licensing, litigation, and patent prosecution.

Baker practices in the firm's Milwaukee office. She focuses her practice in the area of patent law, with experience in drafting and prosecuting chemical and biotechnological and pharmaceutical patent applications and patentability and infringement opinions. Her technical background includes practical experience in molecular biology, microbiology, chemistry, pharmacology and the analysis of corn-to-ethanol technology. She is listed in The Best Lawyers in America® (2005–present: Biotechnology Law/Patent Law) and Chambers USA® (2006–present: Intellectual Property), has been named a Woman of Influence by the Milwaukee Business Journal, and is Martindale-Hubbell AV® Peer Review Rated. Baker earned her law degree, with honors, from the University of Wisconsin Law School, her doctorate in biochemistry from the University of Georgia, and her bachelor's degree from the University of Georgia.

Berson practices in the firm's Madison office. He counsels clients on a full range of intellectual property issues, particularly in devising and implementing global patent and trademark protection strategies for high technology companies; advising on cutting-edge technical fields of biotechnology, biomass-based, and microbial biofuels technologies; developing pre- and post-acquisition strategies for integrating critical technology from competitors; and obtaining, defending, and operating in the field of next-generation nucleic acid sequence analysis technologies. He has been listed in Chambers USA® (2011–2014: Intellectual Property) and The Best Lawyers in America® (2008–present: Litigation – Patent/Patent Law/Trademark Law) and has been named to Wisconsin Super Lawyers® (Intellectual Property). Berson earned his law degree, cum laude, from the University of Wisconsin Law School, his master's in Oncology from the University of Wisconsin, and his bachelor's degree from Haverford College.

Tomaselli practices in the firm's Madison office. He is the national chair of the firm's Intellectual Property Litigation Team and has substantial experience in all types of intellectual property disputes, including patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright, licensing, and restrictive covenant disputes. He has represented clients in state and federal courts from Delaware to California. His experience includes representing companies in the areas of biotechnology, insurance, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, and technology.
