Will Schultz is an experienced corporate lawyer who represents privately held businesses and their owners. As outside general counsel and a trusted advisor for his clients, including family-owned businesses and private equity funds and their portfolio companies, Will provides counsel on:

  • Mergers and acquisitions (M&A)
  • Succession planning
  • General business and corporate matters

Having served for over eight years as the general counsel of a parent company to a global family of manufacturing businesses prior to joining Quarles, Will brings broad business experience to the advice he provides to clients. Known for his collaborative, results-oriented style, Will approaches his work from the premise that listening to and understanding what is important to a client (as well as to the other party to a transaction) is key to resolving differences and getting deals — and business in general — done.

Will is national chair of the firm’s Business Law Group, co-chair of the firm’s Privately Held Businesses team, section chair of the firm’s transactional practice groups and a member of the firm's Executive Committee.

Experience in Action

  • Advising on sophisticated transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, reorganizations and joint ventures.
  • Advising on business formation, corporate governance, succession planning and complex commercial contracts.
  • Serving as outside general counsel, addressing the day-to-day operational and strategic issues of his clients, connecting them when necessary to dedicated legal counsel for tax, intellectual property, litigation, labor and employment, employee benefits, environmental, immigration, real estate and other legal and business issues.
