12:00 to 12:15 p.m. - Diversity, Equity and Inclusion; Getting Everyone in the Game and Off of the Bench.

Description: This session explored the topic of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), a topic that has been brought to the forefront of national discussion following the summer of racial unrest that followed the killings of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor. Corporate legal departments have been tasked to do their part as these discussions have continued. We explored how having good performance management practices can have a positive impact on DEI efforts, and for the broader benefit of all in the department. We discussed how in-house counsel has a major impact in the long-term success of under-represented attorneys.

Speaker: N. Cornell Boggs, III, Of Counsel / Senior Strategic Advisor, Quarles & Brady LLP

While remote depositions are not a new concept, their popularity has increased this year and they have become part of the new normal for litigators in the face of the restrictions placed on in-person meetings and travel. This session discussed the pros and cons of remote depositions and a few best practices.
