Kirk Hoopingarner Named Chair of Tax-Exempt Organizations Group

Milwaukee — The national law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP today announced that partner Kirk Hoopingarner has been named chair of the firm's Tax-Exempt Organizations Group.

"Kirk is an established leader at the firm and his ability to build strong client relationships shows he is a great fit to continue our commitment to our Tax-Exempt Organization practice," said Will Schultz, Business Law Practice Group national chair. "He not only is knowledgeable in tax-exempt law but he has been here for over a decade and knows the ins and outs of the firm, enabling him to ensure clients get the full benefit of our resources."

The Tax-Exempt Organizations Group represents private and public foundations, schools (including public and private colleges, universities and charter schools) and other educational institutions, museums, research institutions, hospitals and health care entities, and other not-for-profit organizations. The group also represents a variety of for-profit and hybrid entities that work with, partner with, receive fundraising from or otherwise engage with tax-exempt organizations.

Hoopingarner has leadership experience in several Chicago-area organizations, including being past president of the Evanston Community Foundation, McGraw YMCA of Evanston and the Evanston Township High School Foundation, past president of the Corporate Responsibility Group of Greater Chicago, member of the Planned Giving Advisory Committee of the Lincoln Park Zoo and member of the executive committee of the Legacy Partners of the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago Foundation.

Additionally, he is an adjunct professor at the Northwestern Pritzker School of Law graduate tax program, where he lectures on tax-exempt organizations. He also serves on the editorial board for Planned Giving Today and is a member of the Charitable Planning Committee of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel.
