Melanie Verdecia Honored as Finalist for “Pro Bono Attorney of the Year” at Law.com Florida Legal Awards
Melanie Verdecia, a partner in the Quarles & Brady Litigation & Dispute Resolution Practice Group, was named a finalist for “Pro Bono Attorney of the Year” as part of the Law.com Florida Legal Awards.
The award recognizes a lawyer who has had inspiring success on a 2025 pro bono case or who dedicated a notable amount of their time in 2025 to pro bono work to achieve meaningful results.
Verdecia has been involved as pro bono counsel on several capital punishment cases and serves on the Steering Committee for the ABA Death Penalty Representation Project. She also has provided pro bono support on a variety of other matters, including family law matters, guardian ad litem in child dependency cases, and advocating for the best interests of children involved in the juvenile dependency system. Verdecia serves on the firm’s pro bono committee and mentors associates on pro bono matters.
