Experienced bond financing and tax counsel
Lynda Templen has extensive bond and tax experience with a variety of industrial revenue bond structures, including variable and fixed-rate tax-exempt bonds, taxable convertible bonds and taxable notes. She also counsels her clients with both tax-exempt and taxable lease revenue bond structures and tax increment financings (TIF).
Lynda serves as lead attorney for numerous general obligation bond issues, as well as municipal and school district bond counsel engagements. Her experience in this area includes Revenue Anticipation Notes, Bond Anticipation Notes and Tax & Revenue Anticipation Notes, refundings and lease financing.
Skilled at finding ways to reduce costs for clients in bond financing, Lynda assists growing companies identifying and securing local and state incentives that can help bridge the equity gap that often proves a challenge for such clients.
Experience in Action
- Advises potential conduit borrowers on eligibility for tax-exempt financing and other grants, loans or programs.
- Drafting and delivering tax opinions for conduit and general obligation bond transactions.
- Provides guidance to prospective borrowers regarding available incentives.
- Provides bond and tax counsel for conduit bond financing for 501 (c)(3), small manufacturing and exempt facility financing.
Successes
- Successfully secured construction financing for new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, including $700,000 in state tax incentives and $10 million in tax-exempt bonds.
- Served as lead counsel on hundreds of bond transactions in several states totaling billions of dollars.
- Successfully documented and closed approximately $240 million of taxable bond financing for broadband expansion in Wisconsin.
