Committed to improving access to justice through meaningful lawyer engagement
Mary Ferwerda supports attorneys and business professionals across the firm in their pro bono efforts, mentoring those interested in getting involved, and ensuring proper legal housekeeping on pro bono cases. She also directly handles a significant pro bono caseload.
Before joining Quarles, Ferwerda was chief deputy clerk of Circuit Court for Milwaukee County and served for nearly a decade as executive director of the Milwaukee Justice Center. Her experience also includes serving as an adjunct professor at Marquette Law School and practices in family and immigration law.
In addition to serving the communities in which we live, pro bono activities can help one develop a range of professional skills, gain experience in working with clients and broaden legal knowledge across disciplines. In some cases, attorneys can earn CLE credit depending on the licensing rules in each state.
