Specialty Pharmacy Law: AI

Simone Colgan Dunlap will be presenting at the 2025 NASP Annual Meeting on September 14. Her presentation titled, "Specialty Pharmacy Law: AI," will explore the evolving landscape of AI in specialty pharmacy practice, FTC and state consumer protection considerations, FDA oversight of AI-enabled medical devices and software, liability concerns for pharmacists using AI decision-support systems, and data privacy and security issues. The presentation will identify potential risks of bias, transparency and accountability in AI-driven tools, as well as emerging state and federal legislative responses. Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of the regulatory environment, risk management strategies and key questions to ask when evaluating AI technologies in pharmacy operations.
