Emily Feinstein and Emily Stedman Announced as Public Justice Finalists for 2020 Trial Lawyer of the Year Award

News Release

MILWAUKEE — The national law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP is pleased to announce that Emily Feinstein and Emily Stedman have been named finalists for the 2020 Trial Lawyer of the Year award by Public Justice.

The Public Justice Trial Lawyer of the Year Award celebrates and recognizes the work of an attorney or team of attorneys working on behalf of individuals and groups that have suffered grave injustice or abuse.

Feinstein and Stedman were part of a pro-bono team that litigated a defamation case on behalf of Leonard Pozner, whose six-year-old son was murdered at Sandy Hook Elementary School in December of 2014, against James Fetzer, who published a book that accused Pozner of distributing a forged death certificate for his son as part of a secret operation to erode Second Amendment rights. Ultimately, Pozner’s legal team tried compensatory damages to a jury in October of 2019 and obtained a $450,000 verdict for emotional distress and damage to Pozner’s reputation.

Feinstein is a Partner in the Litigation & Dispute Resolution and represents clients in disputes relating to insurance coverage, consumer law, trade secrets, health care, and commercial transactions. In addition, she helps survivors of domestic violence obtain protective injunctions and has repeatedly represented clients in these evidentiary hearings, obtaining injunctions to prevent their abusers from contacting them. Feinstein holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Illinois and a Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from the University of Wisconsin Law School.

Stedman is member of the firm's Litigation & Dispute Resolution Practice Group. She represents and counsels her clients in general commercial matters, as well as financial services and bankruptcy matters. Stedman has a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, from Wake Forest University and a Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from the University of Mississippi School Of Law.

Feinstein and Stedman will be recognized at the Public Justice’s 2020 Virtual Gala on Thursday, August 6th.
