Nneka Umeh and Zachary Eastburn Accepted to 2021 Leadership Council on Legal Diversity Programs
Milwaukee — The national law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP today announced that Nneka Umeh has been accepted into the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) Fellows Program and Zachary Eastburn has been accepted into the LCLD Pathfinder Program.
LCLD comprises more than 350 corporate chief legal officers and law firm managing partners who are committed to creating a truly diverse legal profession. The organization strives to achieve this goal by attracting, inspiring and nurturing a new and more diverse generation of attorneys.
LCLD's Fellows Program identifies high-potential diverse attorneys and helps set them on the path to leadership within their organizations. As a fellow, Umeh will participate in a learning program that includes conferences, training in the fine points of legal practice, peer-group projects to foster collaboration and build relationships, and extensive contact with LCLD’s top leadership.
Umeh is a member of the firm's Immigration Practice Group in its Chicago office. She develops and maintains comprehensive immigration programs for employers and employees, including the full range of temporary and permanent visas. Umeh advises employees on naturalization/citizenship applications. In addition, she counsels organizations on developing, maintaining and defending immigration compliance (including I-9 and E-Verify) through corporate restructuring for employee populations across a broad spectrum of industries. Umeh is the Quarles & Brady Women's Forum Chicago office chair and African American Business Resource Group national chair.
The LCLD Pathfinder Program is designed for high-potential, early-career diverse attorneys. The goal of the program is to provide participants with practical tools for developing and leveraging internal professional networks through relationship building skills, foundational leadership skills and an understanding of career development strategies.
Eastburn is a member of the firm's Litigation & Dispute Resolution Practice Group in the Madison office. He represents large businesses and corporations that supply products to customers through franchises, dealerships, and distribution channels. He regularly counsels clients on issues that affect their products getting to market and in litigation matters involving the termination of distribution relationships and defending against claims under Wisconsin's Fair Dealership Law. Eastburn is the national chair of the firm's LGBTQ Business Resource Group and is committed to the firm's pro bono efforts.
