Experience in Action
- Guides clients through the determination of their ultimate wishes with certainty, prudence and sensitivity to unique family dynamics.
- Prepares and supports clients for and through the ongoing management of a family wealth plan to ensure peace of mind years beyond initial implementation.
- Leverages professional advisors to build or become part of a client’s cohesive wealth team for planning, tax, investment, valuation, insurance and administration.
- Drafts the framework and documentation to be easily digestible by clients and professional advisors alike both during the planning process and throughout the lifetime of the plan.
- Formulates bespoke, comprehensive and ongoing estate management plans to systematize and simplify estate administration and management to bring clarity on a predictable and recurring basis.
Successes
- Built an irrevocable trust and LLC structure to maximize a client couple’s leverage of their estate tax exemption leading to conversion of assets from taxable to non-taxable, resulting in millions of dollars in gift and estate taxes saved and passed to future generations. This initial structure continues to work for the clients today as they identify and bring additional opportunities for consideration.
- Developed a time value of money and minority corporate interest discount valuation plan for a client in their 90s who was late to the estate planning process to utilize their ultra-high-value home to pass millions of dollars to their children tax-free, which otherwise would have incurred a 40% tax at the client’s death.
- Zealously advocated for a client who had lost control of his wealth and estate management to a once-trusted fiduciary to forcibly remove that fiduciary from over 15 irrevocable trusts, two corporate entities and four life insurance policies when the client didn’t have a surface-level option to regain control of over $170 million of the wealth they created from their life’s work.
- Developed and qualified with the IRS a private foundation for a client to hold a sports tournament whose proceeds and other donations are invested and go to various charitable organizations to fund research for a disease that impacted the clients’ son.
- Worked with a client and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to preserve the family’s valuable cap-and-trade commercial red snapper fishing credits that would be lost at the client’s death if not strategized to be transferred to an entity that was purpose-developed as a part of the estate plan to ensure the credits stayed in the family to support the clients siblings, nieces and nephews, and their future generations.
