Quarles & Brady Attorneys Appointed to INTA Committees

Milwaukee — The national law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP today announced that Tara Akinwande, James Aquilina, and Lori Meddings have been appointed to International Trademark Association (INTA) Committees for the 2020-2021 term.

The purpose of INTA committees are to make policy recommendations to the Board of Directors, to execute the Association’s Strategic Plan by undertaking short-term and long-term assignments, and, in general, to carry out the work of the Association. Tara Akinwande has been appointed to the Young Practitioners Committee, James Aquilina to the Designs Committee, and Lori Meddings to the Anti-counterfeiting Committee.

Tara Akinwande is a member of the firm's Intellectual Property Practice group and focuses her practice counseling clients on a wide range of trademark, copyright, advertising, and marketing law issues. Akinwande holds a Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, from Pepperdine University and a Juris Doctor from Northwestern University School of Law.

James Aquilina has extensive practice experience in all aspects of U.S. intellectual property law, and regularly counsels clients in the areas of utility and design patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret law, with emphases on rights procurement, portfolio development and management, licensing, and rights enforcement. He received his Bachelor of Science in Engineering, cum laude, from Rutgers University and his Juris Doctor from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. James is widely recognized in the field of U.S. design law, which regards the intersection of design patents, trade dress, and copyrights in useful articles. He is currently the Chair of the Industrial Designs Committee of the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA), and is a frequent speaker, instructor, and academic contributor on design rights topics.

Lori Meddings helps clients protect and enforce their intellectual property throughout the world, with a focus on maximizing the value of the company's trademarks and copyrights and defending against unfair competition in advertising. She is Chair of the firm's Trademarks & Copyrights subgroup within the Intellectual Property Practice Group. Meddings holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin - Madison and a Juris Doctor from Marquette University Law School.
