Comprehensive labor and employment law counsel for employers

Eric Johnson focuses on employment law counseling and litigation in Arizona, Nevada and New Mexico state and federal courts. The many areas in which he helps employers includes creating and enforcing noncompetition and other restrictive covenant agreements, defending employers in judicial proceedings involving equal employment, wage and hour and other employment state and federal laws, planning for and defending reductions-in-force and business reorganizations, and advising on issues such as employee termination, discipline, harassment, investigations and compliance with various federal and state labor and employment laws.

Eric is the Phoenix office chair of the Labor & Employment Group.

Experience in Action

  • Represents national and local employers in litigation involving the enforcement of restrictive covenants and trade secret protections, in both federal and state court.
  • Defends claims of employee discrimination and/or retaliation, including lawsuits based upon Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and other federal and state statutes.
  • Advises clients on issues such as employee termination, discipline, harassment, investigations and compliance with various federal and state labor and employment laws.
  • Counsels companies on issues related to the COVID-19 pandemic, including guidance on remote workforce policies, procedures and training; employee safety; reductions in force, furloughs and layoffs; family and medical leave due to COVID or childcare interruptions; ADA accommodations; return to work issues, including temperature testing, salary reductions and social distancing in the workplace; and preventing discrimination and harassment related to COVID-19.
