Relationship-centered legal counsel for physicians and dentists
Michael Levey is a skilled business law attorney who advises on business and regulatory issues facing entities in the health care industry, particularly physicians’ and dentists’ practices. His clients include individual physicians and dentists, medical and dental practice groups, and other privately held and nonprofit businesses that operate in the health care industry. His substantial know-how extends from the formation and maintenance of Wisconsin service corporations through to their strategic and day-to-day operational needs. Michael serves as:
- Legal counsel for individual physicians, dentists and other health care providers
- Business law counsel for a variety of health care providers, including medical and dental practices
- Outside corporate counsel to privately held businesses and nonprofit organizations
The success of a client is central to Michael’s practice, whether they are brand new or have been receiving his counsel for decades. He works hard to make it easy for clients to hand over their projects to him and get them turned around in a timely and cost-effective manner. Michael crafts solutions appropriate to a specific project while also consistent with their long-term vision.
Michael serves as the firm's national pro bono partner and is also a member of its Financial Services industry team.
Experience in Action
- Advising on formation and maintenance of Wisconsin service corporations and their operational needs, including drafting, reviewing and negotiating employment agreements, sales and purchases of practices and practice assets, practice buy-ins, mergers, and practice separations and dissolutions.
- Serving as outside legal counsel to privately held businesses and nonprofit corporations exempt from federal income tax under various provisions of the Internal Revenue Code. Michael’s breadth and depth of experience enable him to serve as a trusted adviser to a number of Wisconsin-based privately held companies in connection with general business matters.
- Working with physician and dental practices on lifecycle events, including formation, addition of professionals, growth, retirements, buying and selling practices, mergers and dissolutions.
